Sierra Bullets – Meet Our Newest Brand!

Meet Our Newest Brand – Sierra Bullets!

Bullet Central is so excited to announce that we stock Sierra Bullets. We want Bullet Central customers to have a variety of choices when it comes to meeting their needs. We have a long standing relationship with Berger and are planning to continue to widen the breath of the variety of Berger Bullets we carry as well. However we didn’t want to limit our customers option to just Berger so we decided to take a risk and add Sierra Bullets to our line up of premium shooting supplies.
If you don’t know much about Sierra here is a little bit of backstory on the brand.
  • For over 60 years Sierra Bullets has been dedicated to the manufacture of the most accurate bullets in the world.
  • Hunting and target bullets for rifles and handguns are the only products Sierra makes and Sierra works hard to make them better than anyone else.
  • Sierra Bullets began in 1947 in the California Quonset hut building.
  • Frank Snow, Jim Spivey and Loren Harbor are the founders of Sierra Bullets.
  • In 1990, Sierra Bullets left its factory in Santa Fe Springs, California for a new beginning in Sedalia, Missouri.
  • Armed with years of experience in the manufacturing and testing of quality bullets, Sierra Bullets designed and built one of the industry’s most advanced manufacturing facilities.
  • Sierra Bullets shining star however was the construction of an underground, 300-meter, test range, the longest privately owned underground bullet test facility in the world. Without it, they would not be able to conduct the degree of accuracy testing necessary for the bullets stringent quality control requirements, nor would they be capable of producing the reloading manuals at the level they do.
  • Another significant addition to the Sierra Bullets arsenal was the development of their Bulletsmiths service and Toll Free Tech Line. Every weekday, literally hundreds of shooters and reloaders call Sierra Bullets toll free number and talk with one of their experienced ballistic technicians.

  • To insure that only the most uniform materials are used, Sierra Bullets check the grain size of the raw materials they buy with sophisticated metallurgical equipment.
  • Sierra Bullets designs products with their shooters in mind.
  • First, a bullet must have been designed with the proper materials and construction in order to offer the shooter maximum safety under all acceptable reloading and shooting conditions.
  • Second, a bullet must be designed to meet our rigid quality and uniformity standards, our trademark for over sixty years.
  • Third, a bullet must give the shooter the best possible performance for their situation, whether it be target shooting or hunting. This is made possible through the design of the best ballistic shape and construction.
  • Sierra bullet jackets are made from gilding metal, a copper alloy composed of 95% copper and 5% zinc.
  • Sierra makes the core of the bullet from four lead alloys: 6% antimony-4% tin, 6% antimony, 3% antimony, 1 1/2% antimony and pure lead.
  • Sierra’s experienced engineering staff maintains strict quality control throughout the manufacturing process. This includes in-line sampling, inspection at each major bullet assembly step, stringent manufacturing tolerances and accuracy firing tests.
  • Some of the most important quality control standards used are:
  1. Weight Control of +/- 0.3 grain.
  2. Jacket concentricity of .0000″ to .0003″ on target bullets and .0000″ to .0006″ on hunting bullets.
  3. 100% final visual inspection for external defects.
  4. Roving quality control inspectors perform other dimensional checks at the cupping, draw, trim and bullet assembly operations.
  • Once the go through the production line, they are inspected and tested processed and packed into green custom boxes, which have been designed to withstand the rigors of shipping them to anywhere.

Thank you for taking the time to read this post. Like we said above, everyone at Bullet Central is so excited that we now carry Sierra Bullets. If you haven’t tried them out yet now is the time to do so.
